Enjoying Williams St in Portland 7/31

(Date night in Portland ~Again~)

After a hard week at work, we decided to end the night at a new-to-us restaurant with rave reviews in Portland.
Sunrice, a filopino restaurant off of Williams St in Portland.
The gentleman taking our order happened to remember us from Justin's birthday dinner over a year ago at Magna Kusina(he was our server!), and from the times we've been to Memoire Cafe. He works multiple jobs, and apparently now works at Sunrice and Memoire Cafe after having left Magna Kusina.
We chatted with him a bit as we ordered our food (it's counter serve) and mentioned we'd gotten married this year, since we last saw him. He was kind enough to gift us a black sesame donut at the start of our meal.
We ordered the:

`Pork Lumpia
Corn Ribs
Summer Pinakbet
Chicken Inasal(came with their signature sunrice)
Pandan Daiquiri
Calamansi Spritz

Needless to say, our meal was spectacular! We will definitely be back to enjoy their food at some time. There are so many delicious restaurants in Portland though, and so many on our list, that it may be a while....

New favorite summer dinner

Okay - so theres this Korean cold noodle dish that is beyond delicious. I saw one of my favorite vloggers make this dish called Bibimmyeon. It consists of noodles that you flavor with a sauce and then top it with all kinds of veggies and some marinated meat. The vlogger I was watching made it with marinated beef and since I cook mostly white meats and seafood, I swapped it for shrimp. it was to-die-for!!

Here's the recipe for the noodle sauce that I pulled from annkonovlog's video:

1 tbsp soy sauce
2/3 tbsp vinegar
1-2 crushed garlic
1 tbsp honey or sugar
1tbsp gochujang
1/2 tbsp roasted sesame oil

For toppings I went with shrimp (cooked on the stove with oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and sambal olek), cucumber, bean sprouts, green onions, nori, sesame seeds, and a soft boiled or "onsen" egg. If you aren't a fan of uncooked yolks, feel free to use a hard boiled egg in this instance.

Bibimmyeon - Korean Cold Noodle Dish

Date Night 7/09

Justin and I went on a date night to downtown Portland on a sunny thursday evening after work. We visited one of our favorite areas, just over the Morrison Bridge on the east side of the river. Of course, we took Daisy with us! First stop was Sunflower Sake to pick up our sake club bottles from May. We couldn't pick them up in May because we were so busy with the wedding and honeymoon.
Daisy was a champ on her first time going out with us to a public place~ She was a doll at Sunflower Sake and happened to catch the owner's eye (and pets) for a few minutes.

Then we visited Hat Yai, one of our favorite Thai restaurants in downtown and enjoyed their Crab Curry special and some veggie noodles. both were delicious. You could really taste the crab in the curry and it wasn't overly salty, which was nice.

All in all, it was a really nice night out. Even though we were tired from work and our hectic week. Hopefully we can keep this Thursday date night thing going for a while, as we both enjoy it. <3

7/4 Weekend

We had a SUPER busy fourth of july this year. Long story short - We made the choice to adopt a dog before we got married in May, and we were so overjoyed to be able to expand our family right away.
Last year, after the loss of my first greyhound Niki, I felt so lost. Knowing that it would be best to wait until after the upcoming wedding to get a new dog was a hard decision to swallow, but necessary.

We waited untiul we retured from our honeymoon to adopt. We were matched with a beautiful hound from Austrailia who's racing name was Miss Melee! Now, she's called Daisy. Here are two images of Daisy from the first weekend 😄
